Wilderness Adventure at Eagle Landing was founded in 1990 by retired Marine Colonel Gene Nervo. What began as a summer youth program has since expanded to a year-round camp and conference center that features programs ranging from adventure and travel-based experiences for youth to teambuilding corporate retreats. Although the retreat center and the majority of its programs reside on nearly 500 acres in the western Virginia mountains, WAEL’s programs have expanded to West Virginia, Alaska, Puerto Rico, Vietnam, and Panama.

The company has grown from 2 people in 1990 to 24 year-round staff with an additional 35 summer seasonal employees. 

Creating a rewarding program is an exacting process, requiring not only experience and know-how, but also a certain artistic flair. A combination of our challenge courses and adventure activities offers your group a comprehensive teambuilding experience that will produce results. Although our primary focus is constructive group interaction, we understand that sometimes you just want to have some fun. Whether it is through caving, kayaking, canoeing, climbing, hiking, or flying down our 900’ zip line, WAEL offers many avenues for fulfilling your adventurous requests.
